25 Feb Understanding Various Hemp Products And Their Benefits
In search of hemp and CBD products, you’ll likely find that they are everywhere. People are excited to enjoy the potential benefits of these products. However, there are so many different types with various names and claims. Are all the products equally effective? What’s the difference, really?
Hemp Seed Oil
The cannabinoids from the cannabis plant are found in the stalks, stems, and flowers, not the seeds. Therefore, hemp seed oil doesn’t contain much, if any, cannabinoids. Some buyers may be fooled into thinking they’re getting a CBD product at a lower price, but they’re not. That doesn’t mean that hemp seed oil is without benefits. It’s typically associated with skincare because it’s known not to clog pores and has some anti-inflammatory properties. However, CBD is now being studied for skincare benefits as well, and research is showing potential for effects that could improve acne and skin sensitivities.
Hemp Extract and CBD Oil
Both of these products differ from hemp seed oil because they contain considerable amounts of cannabinoids. If you want the potential benefits of cannabinoids, then these are the products for you. Don’t stop your research yet, though. There are still key differences in the way these products are made and the potential effects.
Isolate, Broad-Spectrum, and Full-Spectrum Extracts
Isolate extracts are produced by isolating the cannabinoids from the hemp plant and removing all other substances. Broad-spectrum hemp extract is produced using the whole plant, meaning it contains many other ingredients. However, broad-spectrum hemp extract undergoes a process to have the trace amount of THC wholly removed. Some people prefer broad-spectrum products because they don’t want to consume any THC, even a minute amount. Full-spectrum hemp extracts are created using the whole plant as well. These extracts contain cannabinoids, flavonoids, terpenes, and up to 0.3% THC.
Full-spectrum and broad-spectrum extracts contain cannabinoids as well as other compounds found in the plant. Dr. Ethan Russo, a neurologist with significant experience studying the effect of cannabis on the human body, believes that the combination of the various compounds found within the plant enhances one another’s properties. The cannabis plant contains 11 different terpenes. These molecules are responsible for the plant’s aroma and are thought to provide many benefits such as anti-inflammation, anti-fungus, antioxidation, analgesia, and mood improvement.
