You’ve heard by now that marijuana is a powerful medicinal herb. But, just how powerful is it? The list of medical benefits for these top 10 cannabinoids seems endless.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is an exciting focus of medical research, popular media, and legislation related to cannabis. Its presence is becoming ubiquitous on the shelves of health food stores and search engine results for numerous medical conditions, but don’t believe everything you hear. While CBD is an incredibly safe and therapeutic component of cannabis, there are many myths and misconceptions associated with it. Let’s take a look at a few.

A groundbreaking study from Israel has documented the superior therapeutic properties of whole plant CBD-rich cannabis extract as compared to single-molecule cannabidiol (CBD).

Vancouver resident Carol Francey, 70, attributed cannabis use of more than five decades to her excellent health today. According to Francey, she smoked cannabis to alleviate various conditions such as arthritis, sciatica, and insomnia. Francey added that her previous medications used to affect her balance and slurred her speech. However, the use of various forms of cannabis proved helpful in relieving her conditions without the unwanted side effects from her medications.

With more than a half a dozen states having now fully legalized cannabis (both hemp & marijuana) and with 19 more medically legalized states, the momentum for full cannabis legalization is accelerating in the United States. Among the many benefits that cannabis legalization would bring, one that is not mentioned as often is the prospect of using cannabis to treat our pets. Many dog owners and veterinarians have already come out vouching for the healing properties of CBD oil, a non-psychoactive compound found in cannabis.

With more and more medical cannabis companies starting to reach out to the elderly population, we figured now would be the perfect time to do a write-up on some of the top health benefits of CBD for senior citizens.

A new study shows that many consumers are giving up conventional pharmaceutical drugs in favor of CBD. CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of dozens of cannabinoids found in hemp, but unlike THC it doesn’t cause people to get “high.”  In a study released in early August, market-research firm Brightfield Group surveyed 2,400 registered users of Hello MD, a medical cannabis education and advocacy website. One of the study’s most dramatic findings is that 42 percent of people who use CBD report that they’ve given up pharmaceutical drugs in favor of cannabis in some form. This figure includes both strains of psychoactive cannabis, a.k.a. “marijuana,” with high levels of CBD and CBD-only products like CBD oil supplements made from industrial hem

One of the effects of chronic cannabinoid use could be a more subdued response when faced with stressful situations, according to a new study published Psychopharmacology. Scientists from Washington State University found that when placed in a simulated stressful situation, those who regularly consume cannabinoids produce less cortisol, the body’s main stress hormone.

When it comes to treating mental illnesses – especially depression – the options are unfortunately extremely limited. Most of the time pharmaceutical drugs can take weeks, if not months, before the patient notices a difference and oftentimes antidepressant medications are extremely addictive with a long list of potential side effects if you quit taking them suddenly. The worst part is that antidepressants only work for some people – at least 1 in 3 people with depression are unable to find relief through current antidepressant drugs.

In today’s day and age, people are becoming more and more aware of the reactions going on inside their bodies and finding new methods of what they can do to be naturally healthy. A part of that is physical health and appearance, mainly weight loss. Through scientific studies and evidence, people are discovering new ways to facilitate weight loss through the introduction of different nutrients to their body. Recent studies show a correlation between CBD and natural weight loss through something called “fat browning”.

Now that recreational marijuana use is legal in eight states, more people are finding themselves wondering what the law says about traveling with cannabis. Complicating matters, the TSA has issued somewhat vague guidelines about what is permissible and what isn’t. And most of the confusion has to do with the status, not of dried flower, but of oils and extracts. Take CBD oil, for example, some types of which are legal everywhere. Can you bring CBD oil on planes? For the most part, yes. And here’s why you might want to.
